Different geographies will have different amounts of estrogen in the water. Some may have next to none, but remember even a little adds to your total estrogenic exposure. You have to have your drinking water tested to know for sure. And I recommend that so you know exactly what filters need to be a part of your system. If you don't need all the filters a system offers, don't buy them. Save the money. For water testing, I like tap score. There's a link on Layne's Likes in my bio.
So the criteria I use in selecting water filtration systems shouldn't surprise you. I look for the water to touch only inert surfaces. Both in the filtration process and the storage vessel. That's the goal. If plastics must be used to reduce cost, use only RIC 2,4, or 5, 5 being best. That's polypropylene. We called the company if necessary to find out what the components of these systems are made of so you can buy with confidence. I always consider expense too. If you can't afford the best solution, you should have a way to at least get something to improve your protection in the category. The cost of consumable filters was a consideration as well. So check out Layne's Likes in my bio for some recommendations on good water filtration.
